When you consider cleaning your boots (or shoes) before or upon entering a clean (sterile) area, you immediately think of food production, like say an abbattoir or a dairy plant, right? Well, consider entering another country. And, of course, you would have an air of doubt, right?
Let us explain. A recent experience across the pond, in New Zealand, where immigration section experienced biosecurity scares and some massive breaches of contamination control, highlight the importance of control measures on footwear and clothing when entering a new country.
Considering this incident/s, we look at Amco’s HACCPER mat, which is ideally designed for such a situation – where contamination control is essential and large groups of people are present.
This amazing mat features hundreds of PVC spaghetti-like bristles that loosen debris and contaminates, while the chemical held inside the mat kills pathogens and other bacteria. These bristles also act as a baffle and prevent chemical from escaping the mat like traditional sanitising baths.
With their slim profile and bevelled edges mean that they present a much more user-friendly surface than traditional boot wash mats – whose high profile edges and sharp edges create trip hazards and risk points.
And, what about the factory floor
Well, while we have HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) let’s have at the factory floor, something we are more familiar with, especially in food production.
First of all, HACCP has to do with an approach to food safety from biological, chemical and physical hazards. The emphasis is on a systematic approach to prevent finished product becoming unsafe. Also, this aims to reduce risks to a safe level.
The HACCP system can be used at all stages of a food chain, from food production and preparation processes including packaging, distribution, etc. We also note that today, HACCP is being applied to other industries like cosmetices and pharamaceuticals.
Again, we note that HACCP is focused only on the health safety issues of a product and not the quality of the product, yet HACCP principles are the basis of most food quality and safety assurance systems.
We also note that our HACCPER mats are ideal for use in factory floors, especially for long corridors and walkways. This is as well as entrances to cleanrooms and laboratories. Using our HACCPER mat as part of your contamination control measures means that you will take advantage of benefits of this proven design and have some peace of mind that you are considering the cleanliness of factory floor in your food production areas.
Sanitising bath or boot wash mats
Here, we also take into account the other problems/difficulties that can obstruct or hamper the effectiveness of a sanitising bath or boot wash mats. If you have these in your facility, chances are that you know only too well the frustration of trying to wheel a heavy trolley through or over such a bath or bay.
We suggest the use of our HACCPER mat. Note how the photo shown here demonstrates the ease whereby a trolley can be wheeled over a HACCPER mat—as opposed to a more traditional form of boot mat. Featuring a fibrous cleaning system that cleans the rims of the wheels and not only the surface in contact with the ground, the new system allows for more effective cleaning in much more efficient manner.
No longer is manual handling of trolleys a concern! Simply wheel your trolley, gurney or bed over the HACCPER and your job is done! Yes, thesse mats are also ideal for use in hospitals and healthcare applications.
